Syzygy plays key role in the appointment of EV Network by Royal London Asset Management

18 retail parks. One major EV charging partnership and a reminder that the real value of a deal isn't always immediately obvious!

We at Syzygy are delighted to have supported Royal London Asset Management in the appointment of The EV Network (EVN) to deliver ultra-rapid EV charging hubs across 18 retail parks across the UK.

The 20-year partnership will see 300 kW charging infrastructure deployed across the portfolio, helping future-proof these commercial assets while supporting the growing demand for EV charging.

But there's another important story behind this announcement.

For commercial property owners, the opportunity presented by EV charging can extend well beyond simply providing space for chargers. The commercial value of a portfolio can lie in several different elements of an infrastructure agreement, including network connections, infrastructure ownership, long-term operational commitments and the potential value associated with IDNO arrangements.

Understanding how these elements work together and, crucially, how to negotiate them, can make a significant difference to the overall value of a deal.

Acting as independent advisers, Syzygy worked with Royal London Asset Management Property to assess the opportunities across its portfolio, manage a competitive tender process and negotiate with prospective delivery partners to help maximise the commercial value of the agreement.

The result is a long-term partnership with EVN that combines the delivery and operation of high-quality charging infrastructure with a commercially considered approach to the underlying property assets.

It's a good example of why independent specialist advice matters. Because for landlords and property investors, the question shouldn't simply be whether their sites are suitable for EV charging.

It should also be whether they're realising the full commercial value of the opportunity.

Congratulations to Royal London Asset Management and The EV Network. We're proud to have helped bring this partnership together.
